A big dog parade took place in Tompkins Square Park, New York City, on Sunday, October 19. It was the 35th year of the event. The parade ran from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
People who wanted to walk with their dogs had to sign up before the day. They also had to check in when they arrived.
At about 3 p.m., a car drove onto 10th Street. It tried to move between Avenues B and A.
The street was full of people, dogs, strollers, and children. The driver honked again and again to make a path.
Some people shouted at the driver, but the car kept going. It squeezed past a police car and left the street. The police did not stop it.
The parade used many nearby streets, like 13th Street, 10th Street, and 6th Street. Workers put up ropes so the dogs could walk in the middle and the crowd could watch from the sides.
On 6th Street, there were fun stalls for dogs. One stall had a red carpet for dogs to pose for photos. A photographer took pictures.
A dog named Izzy did not want to stand still. She walked away from the camera again and again.
Another dog was called Tofu. His owner joked that Tofu is running for president.
