Disney canceled the Hong Kong premiere of Zootopia 2. This happened after a terrible fire killed many people. The company wanted to show respect for the victims.
The canceled events included a parade with singer Joey Yung. There was also a special screening and a gala premiere at Hong Kong Disneyland on November 27, 2025. Joey Yung voices Judy Hopps in the Cantonese version.
The park also canceled its fireworks show called Momentous: Party in the Night Sky. Officials thanked visitors for understanding.
The fire happened in the Tai Po district. It destroyed public housing buildings. At least 83 people died. More than 75 people were injured, including some firefighters.
Around 300 people are still missing. Local officials say the fire is now under control.
Zootopia 2 is a sequel from Walt Disney Animation Studios. It had a great start in China. It made $34 million on its first day. That is the biggest opening for a Hollywood animated movie there.
It is also the best launch for a studio movie in China since May 2021. The movie is expected to earn more than $140 million worldwide by Sunday.
