The second-hand phone market is changing. In the past, used iPhones kept a high price, but this year the price is falling.
SellCell says that five months after its launch, the iPhone 16 had lost 35.4% of its value. The older iPhone 13 lost only 24.7% in the same period. In contrast, the new Galaxy S25 lost 46.6%, down from 51.9% for the Galaxy S22.
As a result, the price gap between iPhones and Galaxy phones is now much smaller.
Many experts say the problem is Apple’s slow work with artificial intelligence, or AI.
The company promised big AI updates for the iPhone 16, but it has delayed them again and again.
In March, Apple said the update was delayed with no new date. This made many users lose trust in the brand.
Samsung has taken the opposite path.
Last year it released the Galaxy S24, the first on-device AI phone that can work without the internet.
Samsung keeps adding new AI tools and even older models can now use them.
At an event in New York, the company said it plans to bring Galaxy AI to 400 million devices by the end of this year.
