The Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, is a U.S. health agency.
This week, the FDA sent warning letters to 18 websites.
The sites were selling fake or unapproved Botox.
Botox is a drug made from a very strong poison.
Doctors use a small, safe dose to relax muscles and make wrinkles look smoother.
Botox can also help with medical problems like eye spasms and migraine headaches.
Some people had bad side effects after using the fake drug.
In rare cases, the poison can move to other parts of the body.
This can make it hard to breathe or swallow.
Signs of trouble include weak muscles, slurred speech, and trouble breathing.
Only get Botox from a licensed health professional.
Ask to see the package to be sure it is approved by the FDA.
If you feel any bad effects after an injection, seek medical help right away.
