The US Interior Department announced new entrance fees for national parks today. These are 'America-first' fees. There are special annual passes with pictures of Donald Trump. There are also 'resident-only patriotic fee-free days' in 2026. One is Trump's birthday.
Starting next year, fees for visitors from other countries will more than triple. That means they will cost a lot more.
Non-US residents can choose a $250 annual pass. Or they can pay $100 per person to enter 11 of the most popular parks. This is in addition to the normal entrance fee.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum shared a video on X. He said the goal is to make sure international visitors pay their fair share. This money will help preserve and maintain the parks.
Secretary Burgum said: 'We are making it easier and more affordable for every American to enjoy the beauty of our public lands.'
Starting in 2026, US residents can buy an annual pass for just $80. This is the same price as the current America the Beautiful pass.
The 2026 annual passes have new designs. One shows portraits of George Washington and Donald Trump side by side. The military pass has Trump saluting troops.
There are five new fee-free days for US residents only. They bring the total to 10 free days. The days are July 3, 4, and 5 for the 250th anniversary of Independence. Also September 17 for Constitution Day, October 27 for Theodore Roosevelt's birthday, and June 14 for Flag Day, which is also President Trump's birthday.
These changes aim to help Americans enjoy parks more easily. International visitors will help pay for upkeep with higher fees.
The new rules start soon. They favor US residents with low prices and free days. Special passes honor American leaders.
